Enjoying the day in Bar Harbor

After a busy day of hiking and walking around yesterday, we decided a relaxing day was just what we needed. So we headed out to the sandbar connecting Bar Harbor to Bar Island when the tide was out around noon. I realized that I don't remember ever walking all the way across the sandbar to the island on any of the other times I have visited Bar Harbor. Must have been memories of when I was a kid and thinking that the tide was going to suddenly rush in and we would be stuck on the island until the tide went out again. But today we walked the entire sandbar and it was pretty cool. One note here though, my little kid fears must not have been too ridiculous since there is a sign posted before heading out onto the sandbar and when you get out to Bar Island. Both say that if you do get stuck, you can call for a water taxi (for a small price of $150), but could over an hour for it to get to you.....

We then walked up to Jordan's for brunch and made our way back to our apartment to gather our things for the rest of the afternoon. Next stop, the ever famous Pirates Mini Golf. Since they close at 8 pm ( a shocker for the summertime), we decided to go during the afternoon. They have an easy 18 hole course and a more difficult one. Thank goodness for the easy one. Let's just say that par 2 was not in my cards. The boys each got a hole in one for the same hole, and then there was my 4 strokes (our last ditch number if we couldn't make par) for that same hole.

After a super fun mini-golf game, we hopped back into the car to head to Bass Harbor Lighthouse so Stephen could get in a few additional shots during the day. Then it was back to Bar Harbor to buy a few keepsakes and gifts before going in for the night and what we called Maine pizza and movie night! Just a super relaxing night to finish out our super relaxing day. Tomorrow is our last full day in Bar Harbor and we've got big plans.... just wait and see.
